A Birth of Redemption

A Long First Birth
In August of 2023, I spent 3 days with this mama, daddy and a team of birth support. It was grueling, demoralizing for all of us, had scary moments, but ended in a natural, vaginal birth because of this mama’s amazing grit and determination, and the amazing constant faith and support from her husband.
A Difference of Hours
Maddie had dreams this pregnancy warning her of a fast labor so we all felt we should be prepared for that. Fast forward to February 7th 2025 and I got a text about 1:20am that labor had started and was going fast! I grabbed my clothes and shoes and ran to the car. They live just about 1 hour and 10 minutes away. Somehow I got there in an hour! I walked in to her pushing, and sweet baby girl came 8 minutes later with no tearing! Talk about redemption! So if your first birth felt traumatic despite your best efforts, take heart. The next time may be so different.
Welcoming a New Niece
Also, this just happens to be Student Midwife Caitlyn’s sister!! I love that Caitlyn took over doing all of the things right after birth caring for her new niece! She gave me a hard time about turning into the photographer and asked me "who the midwife was here?!” …but the truth is so many of baby’s vital signs are visible. Her color was fully pink in seconds, she started breathing gently, and looking for her mama and daddy right away. Her cord was full and beautiful. There was no bleeding and we could just check a couple of things and let all of them bond with this beautiful new soul!
Watch this redemption (and fast) birth here!
Every birth has its own rhythm, its own challenges, and its own quiet moments of courage and love. At Heart Strings Birth Services, we believe birth is more than a medical event — it is a sacred unfolding, lovingly supported and deeply personal. These stories are shared with permission to honor the families who trusted us with their care and to encourage others as they walk their own birth journeys.
